Hootsuite Platform and Hootsuite Social Marketing

Recently in my Public Relations course I am currently taking, we had the opportunity to learn about Hootsuite social platform. Hootsuite is an social media manager that allows you to control multiple social network accounts seamlessly all in one place. It is use by many professional social media managers and other positions within the public relations field. The two courses we had access to learning, as suggested in the title, were Hootsuite Platform and Hootsuite social marketing. Each program dealt with the their own specific topics and help me understand the tactics of social media management, and how it can be done more simply with the Hootsuite platform. Over the next few paragraphs I will discuss each of the programs, including what the courses cover and my main lessons I learned from them.

The first course I took was Hootsuite Platform. This program deals with understanding the functionality of the platform itself. Hootsuite is a very intricate platform that allows you to manage nearly every aspect of social media accounts across multiple platforms, and even provides analytics and team assembly to help aid in day-to-day functions of running a companies social media.   • The stream is you main dashboard for viewing and managing all your accounts activities.
  • Tabs are a great way to organize your stream to lay out agendas, audiences, types of content, and many other things.
  • Publisher is perhaps one of the strongest functions within Hootsuite which allows you to view details of all social media postings future and present in a calendar based form.
  • Hootsuite Editor is a valuable tool which allows you to edit content multiple ways prior to posting.
  • Hootsuite Mobile is crucial is accessing content on the go so you can quickly/easily respond to feedback and direct issues to the proper channels.

On the other hand, Hootsuite Social Marketing dealt more with the tactical approaches to successful social media management. This included topics like developing crisis management plans, reaching out to influencer, proper budgeting, and how to approach advertising on social media. My five biggest lessons I took away from this course were…

  • Developing content game plans can help best determine audience focused content and analyze your reach.
  • Best practice is for posting content across multiple networks is to specialize posts to best suit the unique functions of specific platforms.
  • Building relationships with influencers is a smart way to broaden your audiences and gain positive support for your company.
  • Social advertising have high potential with target groups, but should only be pursued after well-thought planning.
  • Deepen analysis by comparing your content and activity to that other competitors.

Overall, obtaining your Hootsuite Certifications is a fairly easy process that provides loads of helpful information. A few short hours of dedication is all you need. It will broaden your skillsets and most importantly looks great for future employers.
